Changing the lives of our youth

The purpose of the Lucky Bean Foundation is to make a difference in the lives of our youth in a positive meaningful way. YoungBiz SA has teamed up with the Lucky Bean Foundation to bring this education to our youth.

Over 70% of the estimated 12 million unemployed people in South Africa are between the ages of 15 and 35 years old. The corporate job market is shrinking daily and the school system generates approximately 500 000 new graduates every year, exacerbating the problem.

The only answer to the youth unemployment problem is to mobilise the youth towards entrepreneurship. By empowering the youth to embrace the concept of working for themselves and generating their own income; we can address unemployment, crime, poverty and lack of self confidence.

The biggest problem facing anyone who considers starting their own business is fear of failure. This fear is generally based on a lack of knowledge and understanding of what sort of business to start and how to go about it. YoungBiz Smart Start courses address this very problem by helping students recognize a business opportunity within their own community and developing a that business idea/opportunity into a business that they have the resources to start, no matter how small their resources may be.

The biggest reason that people don’t start their own business is that they are overwhelmed by the prospect and just don’t take that first step, they look at businesses around them and think that they have to have huge amounts of money to get a business started. This is far from the truth and with the right guidance we can change this perception.

How You can Help

The Lucky Bean Foundation is a registered Non Profit Organization (NPO) that was established to bring financial literacy, entrepreneurial & life skills and courses to the underprivileged teenagers and young adults of Nelson Mandela Bay and beyond.

We provide courses at community centres, schools, youth groups and the soon to be established Lucky Bean Foundation Learning Centre, but theses courses cost money that the students don’t have.

Get involved by funding or sponsoring the Foundation generally or on a ‘special project’ basis. If you have a specific group, school or area that you would like to assist in empowering the youth to get working for themselves, the Foundation can assemble and manage a project to meet your requirements.
